3. Department Description The Department of Pediatrics is located on the 6th floor of Building-1 at Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital.
Since 1970 this department has successfully and reputably provided medical care to pediatric patients alongside conducting undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training. The Department of Pediatrics works tirelessly to develop undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (MD, FCPS, DCH) students into skilled, compassionate professionals enriched by modern medical science. The department provides hands-on training directly in the Outpatient Department (OPD), Inpatient Department (IPD) and Emergency Department in addition to engaging bedside teaching and tutorial classes. This enables students to gain full competency in monitoring proper child nutrition and development, national immunization programs, and diagnosing complex diseases. Simultaneously, through high-quality clinical research, regular academic seminars, and continuous skilled medical care, the department plays a pioneering role in ensuring the health of the country's future generations and creating skilled pediatricians.
The goal of the Pediatrics Department is to create skilled pediatricians based on modern, evidence-based medical science while ensuring standard, safe, and sound medical care for children.
